Story details
Norway’s Directorate of Mining annual mineral statistics for 2025 recorded total mineral sales of NOK 13.864 billion. While nominal sales value declined for the first time since 2016, the inflation-adjusted value was 6.6% lower than in 2024. The volume sold also fell 3% to 91 million tonnes.
Exports were valued at NOK 7.178 billion, or 51.8% of total sales; inflation-adjusted export value fell 10.2%. Construction materials made up 53.4% of sales value, while energy-mineral sales fell 58%, reflecting the closure of Mine 7 on Svalbard. The statistics cover operations regulated under Norway’s Minerals Act and annual industry reporting; major construction excavations outside that law are excluded.
