Story details
An International Monetary Fund mission led by Pilar Garcia Martinez began work with Republic of Congo officials in Brazzaville on 24 September, the finance ministry said. It described the visit as an Article IV consultation and the opening of negotiations toward a new programme supported by the Extended Credit Facility. The mission was scheduled to stay through 7 October.
Finance Minister Christian Yoka said government teams had supplied information requested by the IMF mission. The ministry presented the visit as the start of negotiations, not a completed programme or financing approval; its announcement gave no loan amount or agreed terms.
