Story details
Qatar News Agency reported that the Qatar Financial Markets, AI & Digital Assets Expo (QFEX 2026) opened in Doha on 29 September. The two-day summit’s agenda examined how AI is affecting finance, regulation, employment and society, alongside challenges from increasingly autonomous systems. At the opening, Khaldoun Nusair, founder of organiser AFAQ Media Group, said the debate had shifted from whether people would use AI to who would direct its development.
The opening session considered how AI, connectivity and digital transformation are changing industries and business models; later sessions addressed AI use by financial institutions and fintech companies and the management of institutional change. Nusair noted that financial systems can analyse markets, manage portfolios and execute transactions quickly, raising questions of oversight, safety and accountability. The summit also hosted regional qualifiers for the Startup World Cup; QNA said the winning Qatari startup would advance to the international competition in the United States in November. The report describes the agenda and speakers’ views; it does not announce a regulatory decision, investment or AI product launch.
