Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) and Honeywell Technologies signed a memorandum of understanding on 23 September to explore an integrated manufacturing and service hub in Qatar’s free zones. According to QFZ’s statement reported by Qatar News Agency, the initial focus would be machining and servicing Honeywell Technologies Sundyne pumps used in the energy and process industries. The proposed services are intended to support customers in Qatar and across the wider Middle East and Africa.
The memorandum also identifies broader cooperation opportunities across Honeywell’s process technology, automation, cybersecurity and building automation portfolio. QFZ said it would encourage relevant suppliers and partners to consider establishing a presence in the zones and engage research and academic institutions on local capability and talent initiatives. The announcement sets out a cooperation framework; it gives no investment amount, precise site, delivery schedule, job count or start date for the hub. It should therefore be read as a planned collaboration rather than operating manufacturing capacity or confirmed equipment orders.
