Story details

Norway’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries opened a second, shortened consultation on 8 October for rules governing pay on ships serving offshore activities. Since January 2026, licence holders in petroleum, offshore wind, aquaculture and seabed minerals have been required to ensure that employees on ships providing services to their operations are not paid below nationally applicable collective-agreement terms.

The revised draft clarifies which crew members are covered, what counts as pay conditions and how a nationwide collective agreement is defined. It would also cover extensions and orders made after the rules take effect under existing contracts, and specify that the pay standard applies throughout the worker’s service period. These are draft changes under consultation, not final regulations.
