Statistics Norway’s international accounts, published on 2 September, show Norway’s net international investment position rose by NOK 3,408 billion in the second quarter of 2026 to NOK 22,825 billion. SSB said this was the highest level recorded in the series.

The increase was driven mainly by market gains on Norwegian portfolio investments abroad; a weaker krone and NOK 470 billion in net lending also contributed. The current-account surplus was NOK 279 billion and the goods-trade surplus NOK 232 billion, separate measures in the same accounts release.
