Story details
Statistics Norway’s Labour Force Survey update on 23 September put trend unemployment among people aged 15–74 at 136,000 in August 2026, or 4.5% of the labour force. Both measures were unchanged from July. Employment in the same series reached 2.928 million, an increase of 1,000 people month on month.
The employment-to-population ratio rose 0.1 percentage point to 69.9%. The Labour Force Survey is a sample survey: the selected table presents trend estimates for ages 15–74, while the broader survey covers people aged 15–89. Its unemployment measure requires active job search and availability for work; it is not the same as a count from administrative registers and carries sampling uncertainty.
