Story details
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) said on September 14 that it aims to pursue domestic gas use and export growth in parallel, in remarks at the GASTECH conference in Bangkok. Olalekan Ogunleye, NNPC’s executive vice president for gas, power and new energy, said Nigeria has more than 215 trillion cubic feet of proven reserves.
Ogunleye set Gas Master Plan targets to raise national production to 10 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2027 and 12 billion by 2030. NNPC said domestic gas use and exports are compatible, with exports supporting foreign-exchange earnings and local use supporting industrialisation and energy security. The release did not state current national output, announce a new investment decision or report progress against the targets; it presented the figures as company goals.
