Story details
Nigeria’s upstream regulator says it has held petroleum investment discussions with Indonesia and that state-owned Pertamina has expressed interest in the country’s 2026 licensing round. In an update published on 20 September, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) said chief executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan met Indonesia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno and Pertamina upstream business development vice-president Toriq Abdat. The commission did not give the meeting’s exact date.
Abdat said Pertamina was looking at producing assets, projects close to production and opportunities before a final investment decision, and could consider competitive bids or bilateral arrangements. Eyesan said Nigeria’s licensing round is one of the tools supporting its target of producing 3 million barrels a day by 2030. NUPRC noted that 50 assets had been offered and 37 awarded at the July commercial bid conference; that process was the separate 2025 round. The discussion with Indonesia does not mean Pertamina has won an award in the 2026 round or acquired an asset.
