Story details
Nigeria’s Ministry of Environment said on 2 September that Environment Minister Balarabe Abbas Lawal had launched the Securing Nigeria’s Forest Future country package. The policy document covers forest management, restoration of degraded land, biodiversity protection and climate resilience. The ministry said the Abuja launch had taken place recently but did not specify the event date.
The package aims to improve conditions for private and blended finance and support conservation-linked livelihoods and commercially viable forest value chains. The minister called for coordination across agriculture, finance, industry, state governments and local communities. The release announces a policy framework; it gives no financing total or completed restoration outcome.
