Story details

Mersen said on 21 September 2026 that GE Vernova had selected it to supply complete current-transmission systems for synchronous condensers that will be used on Saudi Energy’s national grid. The equipment supplied by GE Vernova is planned for deployment across several solar and wind projects in Saudi Arabia. Synchronous condensers help regulate voltage and support grid stability, particularly as the share of renewable generation grows.

Mersen’s solution combines components including slip rings, brushes, brush-holders and dust-collection equipment. The company said the systems were designed and tested at sites in France and Austria, with support from manufacturing capabilities in Brazil, and that production is expected to continue through 2028. The announcement gave no unit count, contract value, delivery milestones or capacity figures for the associated energy projects. It confirms supplier selection and a manufacturing timetable; it does not show that the projects are complete or that new grid capacity is already operating.
