The Mauritania–US Business Forum opened in Nouakchott on October 5 under the chairmanship of Economy and Development Minister Abdallah Ould Souleymane Ould Cheikh Sidia. Companies and economic institutions from the United States attended. The government presented mining, energy, agriculture, food processing, fisheries, digital services and logistics as potential investment areas.
Alongside the forum, Mohamed Lafdhal Ould Bettah, first vice-president of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, and Washington Insight president Ismail Cheikhoun signed a memorandum intended to create new channels for business cooperation. AMI said possible joint projects could involve energy, agriculture, digital transformation and e-commerce, but reported no agreed project or investment value. The forum also announced approval of multiple-entry visas valid for up to five years for US businesspeople.
