Story details

Mauritania’s cabinet on September 30 approved two draft laws authorising ratification of the country’s membership in the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (TDB) and the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATIDI). TDB membership is intended to provide additional financing instruments for infrastructure, energy, industry, trade, sustainable housing and private-sector finance.

The cabinet also approved a draft decree defining how the Rural Electrification Fund is organised and how its resources are mobilised and used, under the 2022 electricity law. These are draft membership laws and fund rules, not completed ratification or a reported financing disbursement; AMI gave no funding amount.
