Story details

Mauritania’s Minister of Vocational Training, Crafts and Trades, Mohamed Malainine Ould Eyih, visited technical and vocational institutions in Nouakchott on October 5 to mark the opening of the 2026–27 training year and observe entrance examinations. He told the Mauritanian News Agency that about 5,000 candidates were taking examinations for 2,600 places, including programmes leading to the Certificate of Professional Aptitude.

The minister said total capacity at vocational training institutions rose from about 23,000 places last year to 25,000 this year. The national strategy continues to target training 115,000 young people across fields by 2029, and the newly present National Vocational Training Agency is expected to help align programmes with labour-market needs. These are announced capacity figures and policy targets; the report does not yet give enrolment totals or employment outcomes for graduates.
