Story details

Mauritania’s energy and petroleum minister inspected damaged power cables at the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company depots in Nouakchott’s port area on September 26. The cables were struck during excavation for a project to build new pipelines.

The ministry said distribution was operating normally using a 550 kVA generator installed after the incident and that fuel stocks at service stations remained sufficient. Cable repairs were expected to finish Sunday morning; the report confirms continued distribution, not that the planned repair was later completed.
