Story details
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) said 290 students graduated from its Academy Specializations Program on September 10. The programme covered five tracks: artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, renewable energy and water sustainability. Its final stage was an eight-week summer programme combining intensive in-person training with work alongside specialists and academics.
KAUST reported 23,995 applicants, of whom 5,065 advanced to a placement test, 2,473 enrolled in an introductory course and 1,176 qualified for the advanced course before 290 completed the final programme. These are reported stages of the programme funnel, not employment or job-placement figures. The university described the initiative as a skills-development effort in fields it considers priorities for the Kingdom; the announcement did not report post-graduation hiring outcomes.
