Scottish Government data from BICS Wave 165, published on 9 October, estimate that 78.5% of businesses with 10 or more employees and a presence in Scotland were very or somewhat concerned about energy prices during 21 September–4 October 2026. The share reached 88.4% in transport and storage.

The survey also estimates that 45.6% of businesses had supply-chain concerns for the coming 12 months and 36.9% were using some form of artificial intelligence. These are weighted survey estimates for businesses, not a census of every company or a measure of realized financial performance.
