Story details
Jordan’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply says the UN International Procurement Seminar took place in Amman on October 5–6, the first event of its kind in the Arab region. It brought together 83 Jordanian companies and more than 70 procurement and supply officials from UN organizations, with over 400 bilateral business meetings during the two days. Discussions covered pharmaceuticals, food and agriculture, logistics, textiles, construction, energy, information technology and professional services.
The seminar aimed to explain UN supplier registration, tender requirements and procurement processes to Jordanian businesses. The head of the Jordan Chamber of Industry said the UN system procured about $25.7 billion in 2024, of which approximately $394 million came from Jordanian suppliers across 21 UN organizations. The stated possibility that a 3% Jordanian share could add about $380 million annually is a target scenario; the summit report did not announce new contracts or realized exports.
