Story details

Jordan’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Jordan Chamber of Industry launched three strategies on October 6 for engineering, food, chemical industries and cosmetics. Petra, citing the ministry, said the plans cover 2027–2029. Each sets priorities, initiatives, projects, performance indicators and measurable targets, with preparation supported by the Economic Reform Program.

The strategies aim to improve productivity and competitiveness, encourage innovation and workforce skills, attract higher-value investment and expand export access. Engineering priorities include metal products and electrical equipment; food plans address manufacturing efficiency and food security; and the chemicals and cosmetics plan targets specialized, higher-value products. The ministry said plans also address environmental requirements including the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Petra reported no budgets or completed investments, so the announcement sets a framework rather than reporting achieved outcomes.
