Story details

Italy’s energy regulator ARERA changed the remuneration framework for power plants classified as essential to the electricity system in decision 374/2026/R/eel, dated 20 October. The decision page says it sets the technical and economic parameters used in 2027 for an alternative remuneration regime and updates how payments are calculated under the standard regimes for the same year.

Essential plants can be subject to regulatory arrangements when they are considered necessary to operate the power system. ARERA’s short public description does not provide the numerical parameter values or an aggregate cost impact, so this report does not estimate either. The decision establishes a calculation framework for 2027; effects on bills or generator revenues require examination of the relevant tariffs and implementation data.
