Iraq’s National Investment Commission presented the URD automated waste collection system in Baghdad on 26 September, in cooperation with the Environment Ministry and the Spanish Embassy. Al-Maher Economic Group and representatives of Spain’s URD took part in the technical partnership.

The commission said official approvals had been secured to adopt the system in new cities and investment-based residential complexes, with a specialist committee coordinating implementation procedures. The announcement describes a rollout plan; it does not report a completed facility or operating capacity. Municipalities, electricity and telecommunications providers, developers and investors are expected to coordinate the needed infrastructure and technical integration.
