Story details

The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Electricity said on 8 September that transmission teams in Erbil had begun moving and replacing a main transformer to improve electricity supply in central Erbil and Khabat district. The work transfers the main transformer from the Nishteiman station to the Korkosik station.

A fire had destroyed the previous main transformer at Korkosik, affecting electricity in the area around Erbil and delivery toward Duhok. The ministry said the step is intended to restore grid stability. Its announcement describes the start and purpose of the work, without giving a completion date or capacity figure.
