Story details

National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) managing director Hamid Bord told Mehr News Agency on 26 September that associated-gas capture had reached 15 million cubic metres per day, up from about 5 million previously. The current level is three times the earlier level. The interview did not specify a measurement period or independent verification method, so the figures are attributed to the company executive.

Bord said the company was targeting a further 21 million cubic metres per day of capture by year-end, for a planned total of 36 million cubic metres a day; the interview did not specify the calendar year. This is a target, not a completed result. He also referred to a separate project expected to open soon with stated capacity to capture 200 million cubic feet of gas per day; the interview did not name that facility or give a commissioning date.
