Story details

Guyana’s government announced that the Guyana Development Bank began operating on October 5. The bank will offer collateral-free, zero-interest loans to small and medium-sized businesses across all ten regions. The official launch notice describes repayable financing to help businesses establish or expand their operations.

Applicants can use the GDB online portal to apply for loans and submit supporting information. Borrowers will also use the platform to manage their loans during the repayment period. It offers an option to request an appointment with a bank officer for face-to-face assistance. Approved funds will be deposited directly into borrowers’ bank accounts, and repayments will also go through the banking and financial system.
