Story details
Construction has started on the first phase of Edinburgh’s Granton Waterfront regeneration project. The phase is planned to deliver 847 net-zero homes, including 387 affordable homes, 14 commercial units and a new primary school on former industrial land.
The Scottish Government describes the development as part of a wider £1.3 billion waterfront transformation intended to provide 3,500 homes, leisure facilities and a coastal park. The first-phase project also receives £16 million through the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal; public funding is estimated to support a further £220 million in private investment. These are planned outputs and investment estimates, not completed homes or secured final expenditure.
