Story details

The European Commission and the European Investment Bank Group launched the European Institutional Investors Pact on 22 September. The voluntary framework aims to channel long-term capital from investors such as pension funds, insurers and banks into growth and later-stage financing for European technology companies. The announcement said 13 investors had expressed an intention to invest in the area.

The pact includes a Commission-led policy dialogue forum and an investment platform to be developed by the EIB Group. Through investment pipelines, market intelligence and connections, the platform is intended to help investors access European venture and growth equity opportunities. Investors’ statements of intent are not completed investments. Initiatives linked to the framework include the €15 billion European Tech Champions Initiative 2.0 and the Scaleup Europe Fund of €5 billion cited in the announcement.
