Egypt’s communications ministry announced a strategic partnership involving Vodafone Business, Elsewedy Electric and Cassava Technologies to establish Africa Data Centers Egypt, including a sovereign AI data centre. The government’s State Information Service said the initial plan is 20 megawatts of capacity over three years, with a possible expansion to 200 MW.
The announcement estimated foreign investment at $200 million initially and $1 billion on completion, with up to 200 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs. Those are project expectations, not completed investment or employment. The companies also plan cloud, AI and GPU-as-a-service capacity.
