Story details

Egypt’s State Information Service reported that Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid outlined plans for eight to nine new investment zones at a 26 September meeting with an S&P Global Ratings delegation. The zones are planned over the next two to three years; the announcement describes a government plan, not completed sites or investment already received.

Farid said the ministry was working with about 90 public bodies on a digital platform intended to combine company formation, licenses and approvals in one window. He also said the Sovereign Fund of Egypt had launched an industrial investment sub-fund with EGP10 billion of authorized capital and EGP500 million paid up. The report gave no locations, construction costs or firm delivery dates for the proposed zones.
