Story details
Egypt’s State Information Service reported on 21 September that Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Esmat met the ministry’s strategic committee to review work on national-grid security and continuity of supply. Esmat said the grid had handled higher loads during the summer. The meeting covered project implementation, scenarios for future demand and measures intended to keep power supplies continuous.
The ministry said work was continuing to reinforce the grid, connect solar and wind projects, and improve energy efficiency in homes and industry. The committee also reviewed operations and construction progress for battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities, both co-located with renewable projects and standalone. The release gave no new storage capacity, investment amount or commissioning date, so it does not establish that additional capacity has been completed.
