Story details

Egypt’s State Information Service reported that Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi visited the National Natural Gas Grid Control Center at the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) on 9 September to review summer supplies and grid readiness. GASCO chairman Mohamed Marzouq briefed him on systems used to monitor gas flows and maintain regular deliveries to consumer sectors.

Badawi said the petroleum-sector system had met gas needs at power plants and industrial facilities for a second consecutive year, during a summer when electricity loads exceeded 40,000 megawatts. This is the minister’s account of performance at the visit; the report provides no daily gas-delivery volume or independent grid audit. The ministry said it would continue monitoring supply, production and consumption flows through the end of summer.
