Story details
Egypt’s State Information Service reported on 1 September that Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi told Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly that production had begun at the Fayoum-4 well in the West Nile Delta. Badawi said the well came on stream two years ahead of schedule. The report confirms a production start but does not state the well’s measured flow on that date.
The minister said the well was expected to add about 80 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, following accelerated project work and use of existing offshore infrastructure. That figure is expected capacity, not a reported measured daily output at startup. The meeting also covered plans to secure domestic energy supplies; this article focuses on the Fayoum-4 start.
