Story details

Dubai Police has completed the first phase of a solar energy project covering 28 buildings and facilities across the force. Emirates News Agency reported on September 11 that the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by about 26,000 tonnes a year, equivalent to roughly 20% of emissions from Dubai Police buildings.

The General Department of Logistics Support is leading the project, which forms part of a 25-year plan launched during COP28 in 2023. Dubai Police says the solar solutions are being tailored to each site’s age, design and operational needs, with the aim of avoiding disruption to police services. A second phase is being prepared for the final quarter of 2026 and will extend the rollout to additional facilities; the report does not state the installed solar capacity.
