Story details

Dubai Municipality presented projects in waste management, construction and public safety at WETEX 2026, which opened on 20 October. Its Waste Generator Platform records contracts between authorised waste haulers and waste generators in one system, collecting information such as facility locations, activities, waste types and container capacity. The municipality said the consolidated data is intended to support oversight and planning.

The municipality reported that its Bottle2Bag initiative has recycled two million plastic bottles, equivalent to about 40 tonnes, with more than 90 participating entities. The Tasreef stormwater drainage programme carries a planned investment of AED30 billion. Its targets include a 700% increase in network capacity and the ability to handle more than 20 million cubic metres of stormwater per day; completion is scheduled for 2033. These are project figures and targets reported by the municipality, not a claim that all capacity is already operational.
