Story details

ARE and the African Development Bank said workshops ending on 25 September validated a cost-of-service study, tariff methodology and grid code for the DRC electricity sector.

ARE said the cost study is intended to establish a basis for assessing generation, transmission and distribution costs. The tariff methodology is designed to guide price-setting, while the grid code sets technical and safety rules for new power plants and large industrial users connecting to the national network. The release describes validation of tools, not implementation or a change in consumer tariffs.
