Story details
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, hosted by the BIS, published on October 1 an account of its September 28–29 meeting in Indonesia. Members said AI could improve financial-services efficiency but also amplify operational vulnerabilities through cyberattacks and correlated dependencies.
The committee approved a machine-readable Pillar 3 risk-disclosure standard for internationally active banks, expected to be published near year-end. It also approved the end-2025 assessment of global systemically important banks for submission to the Financial Stability Board. Work continues on interest-rate-risk guidance, banks’ crypto exposures and voluntary credit-risk supervisory tools.
