Story details

Two new sites on Afghanistan’s Salam telecommunications network were inaugurated and put into operation in Khanjan and Deh Salah districts of Baghlan province, Bakhtar reported on 5 October. One is in Bajga village in Khanjan. Provincial officials said the infrastructure should improve access to phone and internet services in the two districts.

An Afghan Telecom representative said five of the seven Salam sites planned for Baghlan had been completed, with work on the remaining two expected to finish in the coming weeks. The report said residents in seven districts have access to 3G and 4G services, but gave no subscriber count, coverage measurements or service-quality data for the new sites.
