A survey published by Statistics Austria on 20 October found that 30.3% of Austrian enterprises sold goods or services through websites, apps or online marketplaces in 2025. That was a three-percentage-point increase from 2024 and a record high. Some 26.8% sold through their own websites or apps and 15.2% used external marketplaces; the channel groups overlap because some businesses used both.
Online sales generated 6.9% of total enterprise revenue, a share that remained broadly unchanged for a third consecutive year. The proportion of enterprises selling online was 37.5% in services and 14.7% in production, rising to 65% in accommodation and food services. The survey covered about 6,200 enterprises with at least 10 employees in selected industries; data were collected from February to July 2026, while sales revenue shares refer to 2025.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
