Story details
Norway’s ministries of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and Defence proposed NOK 323.3 million in the 2027 budget for a second launch pad at Andøya Spaceport. The project has a total cost frame of NOK 646 million and a target completion date in 2028. The new facility would be built at Børvågen alongside the existing pad.
State agency Forsvarsbygg would oversee construction, and Andøya Spaceport would lease the pad from the state under a long-term agreement. The same budget proposal includes a separate NOK 14 million for follow-up work on nationally controlled satellite-based ocean surveillance and development of its ground segment. The launch-pad funding is still a proposal; the announcement gives no added launch cadence, customer contracts or payload-capacity figures.
