Story details

The Asian Development Bank approved a $3 million grant to strengthen Mongolia’s efforts to prevent and respond to violence against women and children. The grant comprises $1 million from the Asian Development Fund and $2 million from the Japan-funded Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific; the government will provide a further $1 million.

The project will improve four school dormitories with safety and disaster-resilient features, supporting safer learning environments for about 19,500 students. Prevention programmes in 12 schools will include updated learning materials, staff training, community engagement and digital safety initiatives. ADB also said it will improve support for survivors and at-risk young people and build the capacity of teachers, social workers and psychologists.
