Story details

ACWA Power said it received notices on September 22 that initial units at two Saudi combined-cycle gas turbine projects had received initial commercial operation certificates. In separate Saudi Exchange disclosures published September 24, the company reported 1,283 megawatts of generation capacity for the initial units at Qassim 1, against 1,896 MW total project capacity, and 1,272 MW at Taiba 1, against 1,934 MW total. The project companies, Qudra One and Sidra One for Electricity, are each 40% owned by ACWA.

The combined 2,555 MW figure refers only to the initial operating units, not the full 3,830 MW planned project capacity. ACWA said it expected the financial impact from the initial commercial operation to be reflected from the fourth quarter of 2026 onward. The disclosures do not state that all units at either plant have entered operation, and they provide no actual generation or financial results from the initial phase.
