Story details

French electrical distributor Sonepar announced plans to invest €500 million to expand artificial intelligence across its global operations. The company described the amount as future investment, rather than expenditure already completed. Its release carries a 20 October publication label and a Paris dateline of 21 October 2026.

Sonepar identified demand forecasting, stock optimization, product recommendations, quotation automation and product carbon-footprint calculations as applications. It said the new envelope follows €3.5 billion invested in its transformation since 2021, including supply-chain modernization and digital systems. The announcement does not specify a completion timetable or quantify measured savings from the new envelope.
