Story details
SABIC said its subsidiary, Saudi Methanol Company (Ar-Razi), had received Saudi Energy Ministry approval to allocate the feedstock needed for a planned methanol plant in Jubail Industrial City. The company’s filing says the ministry gave the approval on September 3, 2026; SABIC published the announcement on September 6.
The planned plant is stated to have annual production capacity of 1.8 million tonnes. SABIC said it would disclose material developments, including a final investment decision, later. The feedstock allocation approval therefore does not mean an investment decision has been taken or construction has begun.
