RWE announced on September 17 a virtual power purchase agreement with Oracle covering 433 MW of electricity from its existing Panther Creek I, II and III wind farms in West Texas. The projects are located in Sterling, Howard and Glasscock counties. RWE said the agreement will provide power to the Texas grid in support of Oracle’s data-centre operations.

The deal forms part of a broader set of power investments Oracle announced for Texas, representing more than 1.7 GW of generation capacity across its portfolio. Oracle said the agreement supports its goal of matching 100% of electricity used by its AI data centres with carbon-free electricity by 2035. The RWE contract is virtual and concerns output from existing wind farms, rather than a new build or a direct physical supply line to a data centre.
