Russia’s consumer gasoline price index rose 0.8% in August from July, according to data Rosstat published on September 23. The index was 19.9% higher than in December 2025 and 24.6% above August 2025. The producer price index for gasoline increased 2.9% during the month; it was up 18.2% from December and 2.0% from a year earlier.

The consumer price index for diesel fell 4.6% in August from July, but remained 22.9% above its level in August 2025. Consumer and producer indexes track different stages of sale and use different methods, so their monthly movements are not directly interchangeable. Rosstat also reports regional price variation. The national index therefore does not describe the exact price paid by every driver or local supply conditions.
