Story details

Statistics Poland reported on 18 September that sold industrial production in August 2026 was 4.3% higher than in August 2025. The annual increase in August 2025 had been 0.7%. In contrast, output fell 7.5% compared with July. The figures show an annual gain alongside a sharp monthly decline in the same release.

For January to August, sold industrial production was 3.5% above the corresponding period of 2025, when the comparable increase had been 2.0%. After seasonal adjustment, August output was 3.0% higher year on year but 1.2% lower than in July. The adjusted and unadjusted rates refer to different comparisons; seasonal adjustment is intended to reduce recurring calendar patterns in the series.

The indicator tracks short-term movement in sold industrial production and the August monthly fall needs to be read alongside the annual increase. The January-August figure is a cumulative comparison for the first eight months, not a signal about September or the rest of the year by itself. Statistics Poland’s release summarizes changes in the production series, but the headline figures alone do not provide a detailed explanation by industrial branch.
