Twenty-one companies apply in Norway’s APA 2026 licensing round
Norway’s Ministry of Energy received applications from 21 companies for production licences in the 2026 Awards in Predefined Areas round; it did not disclose how many applications were submitted.
The Norwegian Ministry of Energy said on 11 September that 21 companies applied for new production licences in the 2026 Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) round. The application deadline was 1 September. The ministry withheld the total number of applications, citing competitive considerations.
The APA round covers mature, previously opened areas of the Norwegian continental shelf. This year’s predefined area was expanded by 70 blocks or parts of blocks across the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea. Norway said it aims to award licences in early 2027; the application count does not mean any specific exploration acreage has yet been awarded.
Egyptian and Cypriot energy ministers used an MOC 2026 panel to argue for infrastructure integration to increase the economic benefit of regional gas resources and strengthen supply security. The ministry announcement disclosed no new agreement, supply volume or investment commitment.

Measurement and privacy details
Google Analytics measurement starts only if you allow it. After consent, automatic measurement may cover scrolls, outbound link clicks, downloads, video engagement, site searches and basic form interactions; search terms may be detected from URL parameters. This site’s own code does not send form field values; email redaction in automatic measurement is best-effort, not guaranteed. Our manual page-view event uses a cleaned URL. You can change your choice later. Visits that begin with consent may also send numeric LCP, INP and CLS performance measurements after Analytics loads. A first or later grant starts this on the next page load; withdrawing consent stops these performance reports for this page. The preference cookie lasts six months; advertising measurement and personalization stay off.
