Story details

The Federal Government commissioned the facility at Yakubu Gowon University on 16 September. The Rural Electrification Agency delivered it under Phase II of the Energizing Education Programme through the World Bank-funded Nigeria Electrification Project.

The university has almost 40,000 students, including more than 8,000 living on campus, and over 3,500 staff. The agency said the plant would support teaching, research, laboratories and other critical operations; its announcement did not provide generation output or long-term performance data.
