Story details

The 2026 edition of Amman Design Week has expanded beyond the capital to Iraq Al-Amir and Aqaba, which is hosting the event for the first time. Jordan News Agency Petra reported on October 9 that works in Iraq Al-Amir are presented around Qasr Al-Abd, the women’s cooperative and Naqsh Collective. The programme connects local materials, nature, archaeological heritage and approaches to making.

The Iraq Al-Amir Women’s Cooperative Society offers pottery, handmade papermaking, weaving and soap-making workshops daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; participation fees range from JD5 to JD15. In Aqaba, activities at Ayla Oasis are organized with Wujoud Foundation and include an exhibition, workshops and public events. The exhibition runs through October 17. Petra’s report describes the programme and venues but provides no attendance or measured economic-impact figures.
