Story details

Arab Potash Company said on 26 September that physical implementation had begun on the construction package for its third cold crystallization plant, part of the South Expansion project estimated at about $1.1 billion. The company said preparatory, engineering and design studies had been completed before the start of field execution.

The plan has two main packages: a new granular potash plant with storage and handling facilities, and about 27 square kilometres of new solar evaporation ponds with equipment, pumps and pipelines needed for production. The company forecasts about 4,000 jobs during construction and more than 300 permanent jobs once operating; these are project estimates, not realized outcomes.
