Story details
Iraq’s Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Wahib signed principles of cooperation with Siemens Energy in Berlin on 15 September, covering power generation and transmission projects. A Ministry of Electricity statement carried by the Video News Agency placed the framework within Iraq’s Phase Four energy program.
The announced areas include high-efficiency combined-cycle and thermal plants, new transmission stations, upgrades to existing stations and work to address grid bottlenecks. The ministry also said the principles cover continued maintenance contracts for operating plants, financing mechanisms and staff training. This is a cooperation framework without specified plant capacity or a completion schedule; it did not announce that construction had started.
